This year's Faith promise goal is one of commitment, NOT one of numbers. Last year, we had 320 families commit to making a Faith Promise. We'd like to see that number grow and increase, meaning MORE families are participating...even if it's just $20 for the whole year! Our goal for this year is to see 375 families make a Faith Promise. That's not a huge increase, and we believe that our congregation is far more generous and will exceed that goal, and we're trusting God to provide.
Let's face it... while many of us cringe when the church starts talking about money, the fact is that kingdom work requires funds. Maybe God hasn't called you to serve in some exotic overseas missions field, but He has called many others and they cannot go without financial support. At WPC, we support our missionaries by Faith Promise giving. The faith promise plan of giving is NOT based upon money people already have; rather, it is an encouragement to exercise FAITH in the Lord to supply a certain amount of money, over and above your regular tithes, that will be given to support the work of world missions. Each year at our missions festival, we ask the members to submit their faith promise pledge cards, and the MTW committee uses these pledges to determine the missions budget for the following year. While EVERYONE is encouraged to participate, giving is totally voluntary and must be arrived at through prayer and the burden God places upon your heart to support world missions. So let's review:
- impulse giving
- shifting regular giving to the area of missions
- a pledge made to an organization
- voluntary
- arrived at through prayer
- between you and God
If you feel God leading you to give generously to the work of missions, please contact us in the missions office and we will be happy to assist you!
